Frequently asked questions
Does Luna HR handle UK statutory holiday correctly?
Yes. Luna applies the 5.6-week (28-day) statutory minimum, calculates pro-rata entitlement for part-time and irregular-hours workers, and supports the 12.07% method for accrual. Bank holidays are pro-rated separately so part-timers aren't disadvantaged.
Can leave policies vary by office, region, or team?
Yes. Luna's policy inheritance lets you set a company default and override at any node in the org tree. Each policy setting shows where it's inherited from — no guesswork.
Does Luna HR check the working pattern automatically?
Yes. Leave bookings respect the employee's working pattern (which days they work) and exclude bank holidays. Half-day bookings are supported.
Can I set blackout periods?
Yes. Define blackout periods (year-end, product launches, retail peak) scoped company-wide or to specific departments, optionally restricting only certain leave types. Hard-blocked at booking time.
Are fit notes attached to sickness automatically?
Yes. When an employee submits sickness leave above the seven-day threshold, they can attach a fit note which is automatically filed to their cabinet.
